2015: Change & Commitment.

It's already December 16th and we all know what that means; New Year, New You. It's time for people to make that commitment to lose 15 pounds, get a gym membership, do an act of service one a month for their community, and all those other cliche promises we claim to make to ourselves and everyone on social media. But do we really follow through with them? Do we honestly go to the gym every day or is it just a three week fad that fades over time when the busyness of life kicks back in? As a college student I am the absolute worst for making commitments that I truly do want to see myself complete, but with everything going on it just doesn't happen. I want to see change and growth in myself this year as a transition from being a teenager in college to a woman who is working towards a full time career and the hopes of being a wife and mother one day. I want to see myself be pressed into the Word more and follow in the footsteps of my mom and grandma, both incredible women who are successful and highly-respected and loved by everyone they come in contact with. I have asked for advice, and complied them altogether to come up with 4 ways to become that woman! Make sure to read to #4, its the best one!

1. Be Purposeful

Whatever it is you commit to, do it and do it whole heartedly. As the body of Christ we are called to be servants which requires humility and sacrifice on our part, which is one of the greatest qualities I see in the role models of women in my life. Their humility and sacrifice.

2. Know How to Listen

One of the greatest ways to help people and yourself is by listening to others and what they have to say. By listening you show someone how much you care and have an interest in them, which can also be beneficial by learning from others mistakes.

3. Look for the Good

It is so easy to be quick to judge and condemn others by their past and their mistakes, but if that is how Christ were to act towards us then to put it in simple terms: we'd all be screwed. But that is why there is grace and mercy. It is not intended to be taken advantage of but it is one of the ways we show others maturity and compassion.

4. Class, Grace and Dignity

A woman who is known as someone with humility, fairness, and dignity is above all the most important. A woman who cares about her identity and appearance yet does not conform to the world and what society demands is one of the most important qualities my Mom has taught me. A woman who knows what she wants and goes for it without bringing other people down in the process. A woman who has confidence (not cocky, but a peaceful confidence that you're a child of the King) is a quality that shines bright in a woman.

Transitioning from a teenager to a woman is one of the most self-defining stages of life we will go through ladies, so it's vital that we do it right the first time and follow after Christ's heart while making our heart filled with compassion to others.
