Broken is Better.

Your brokenness was a better vessel than your pretend wholeness ever was. ⠀ Psalms 51:13-17 “Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.” God wants us to see our sin and be so upset by it that our hearts become broken before Him. He is looking for real brokenness. Because the person who is truly broken is ready for a change. ⠀ The book of Judges reveals the brokenness of humanity apart from the Spirit. And Psalm 51 is a prayer about coming to God when we fail due to our brokenness. ⠀ The flesh is bound to sin. The heart of man is beyond curable. We need a new heart, a renewed spirit. In Psalms 51, David is practically begging for a new and right spirit. He prays for a strong constitution to be able to resist the temptation of sin. ⠀ Your pretend wholeness will never bring you to the foot of the cross. You aren’t whole without the Holy Spirit, without the resurrection of Christ. And Jesus came to cleanse the vessel so that the Spirit could take up residence within us. ⠀ What is broken is what is redeemed. ⠀ What is broken is what is sanctified. ⠀ What is broken is what is restored. ⠀ Embrace your brokenness, because what is broken is what God blesses, restores, heals. It is all for Glory in His name.
