What Every College Girl Should Know.

From writing August 2013 on my first college assignment to now wrapping up the end of fall semester of sophomore year is absolutely CRAZY. Never believed time would go by so fast. College has been stressful, overwhelming yet some of the best months of my life. There would be nights I’d pray for the rapture to take place because I felt drowned in work, but other nights I’d be so happy and thankful for my suite mates and everyone I lived with. While being home for Christmas break I had so many of my friends ask me; “If you could give me one piece of advice for freshman year, what would it be?” Well friends, I cant give you just one. So share this blog as ya wish ladies, because this is info I wish I knew back in August 2013!

  • First impressions are never forgotten, so make it count.

  • Free T-shirts are the doorway to your collegiate closet. So take them.

  • Work ahead, work ahead & keep working ahead! When you get a due date DON’T wait. Trust me everything that can go wrong will go wrong the night before if you’re planning to procrastinate.

  • You get tired of hearing your Mom always tell you stories from her times in college and her advice, because well that was back in the 1900's and this is 2014...hate to say it but, learn to believe it. Momma is ALWAYS right.

  • Pictures. Instagram. Take pictures. You’ll wanna remember everything.

  • B-I-B-L-E. Not a cliché piece of advice, I promise. You need it not only to stay connected and refueled, but it will be your greatest source of encouragement.

  • Laughter is the best medicine. Go out and make friends!

  • It’s okay to cry. If you miss home: cry. If you’re stressed: cry. If you’re roommate moves out: cry. Tears help.

  • Respect yourself. Don’t compromise or settle on anything.

  • Look respectable and classy in academic buildings. It’ll help you feel motivated, and what girl doesn’t like wearing pearls?

  • Make time for Skype dates and phone calls with your high school girlfriends. They are freshman just like you so keep in touch with them, it makes a world of a difference.

  • Don’t study alone. Groups are fun…and usually involve free food.

  • Join a bible study or some sort of small group. Accountability is good and so are girl friends! Especially the ones who are chasing after Jesus’ heart instead of the guys!

  • Ladies, if he looks like a player, he’s a player.

  • Don’t stay locked up in your dorm room, go outside. Vitamin D is good and so is melanin. Get tan. Enjoy it.

New friendships, old friendships, rude boys, cute boys, bad hair days, bad decisions, good grades and a good cry. Little things like that are learning experiences.
