I have spent years asking God to be a part of whatever I was doing…to make my life flourish and grow, to be abounding in joy and happiness. But, I read the book of Acts and see people are privileged to just be a part in what God was doing. And maybe that’s what Luke intended for us to take away. He wanted us to see that sometimes we find more beneficiary in being a part of the plan rather than creating the plan. It is titled Acts to emphasize that this book records the Acts of the Apostles through the work of the Holy Spirit.
The actions of these apostles are fearless, relentless and straightforward. It tells of the founding of the Christian Church and the spread of its message to the Roman Empire. This! This hit home with me…more ways than one. In my school, workplace, etc. it is my turn to be a disciple and bring the message to my peers, coworkers and those I come in contact with. It is time for me to be a part of what God is doing instead of begging him to better my life. It’s time to take a stand and spread the Gospel and make him known. In songs we sing, passages we read; you always hear about making Him known throughout the nations, but why not start in our daily environments and make Him known in our work places, home life and social life.
I challenge you to embark on this journey with me throughout the summer. The journey of bringing Jesus and living out the acts of Christ to everyone we come in contact with. Still asking Him to be in our lives, but allowing us to be a part of what He is doing and how He is moving.
